Following a week-long “digital village” in Antigua, the country’s government is expanding a programme aimed at improving acess to technology.

The so-called Technology for Communication, Education and Empowerment Programme will open two new “Community Computer Access Centres” at two schools on Friday.

The government, which has been on a drive to be “digitally competitive,” has opened a total of 12 centers, each of which can hold 16 people and are equipped with high-level security systems.

Antigua launched the new project in March with two centres at secondary schools, but a total of 26 centres have opened since 2004.
