Nine countries are campaigning for elections tomorrow to decide the five non-permanent seats on the Security Council during 2012-13.

While the Latin America and Caribbean region will have one seat on the council, only Guatemala has declared a candidacy for the post, with no countries from CARICOM choosing to declare.

The new members will join Colombia, Germany, India, Portugal and South Africa, whose terms end on Dec. 31, 2012, along with the five permanent members — China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
