MBJ Airports Limited, the operator of Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport, has broken ground on a new $12 million USD project aimed at rehabilitating the airport’s taxiways.

The project will include the removal and reconstruction of parts of the taxiway as well as the redesign, resurfacing and widening of other sections.

The project is progressing “smoothly,” according to a statement from MBJ. It is slated to be completed in 10 months.

It is part of a structured airport maintenance program being carried out by MBJ according to the terms of its 30-year concession with the government of Jamaica.

Sangster International Airport welcomed a record 3.6 million travelers last year.
