Grenada Tourism Showing Solid Growth

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - August 20, 2017

Grenada is showing solid growth in 2017, according to the latest data fro the Grenada Tourism Authority.

The country’s stayover tourist arrivals were up 5 percent in the first half of 2017 compared to the same period in 2016, buoyed by a 10 percent increase in arrivals from the United States.

Grenada also reported a 9 percent increase in Canadian arrivals and 7 percent jump in arrivals from within the Caribbean.

Those numbers are likely to mean that the tri-island state saw a decline in arrivals from the United Kingdom, although the GTA did not release data for that market.

“We are happy with the growth in arrivals for the first half of the year when compared to last year,” said Patricia Maher, the top executive of the Grenada Tourism Authority.

The country’s tourism officials also reported that cruise projections for the upcoming season are 27 percent higher than the figures for last season.
