The Caribbean’s Glamping Resort

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 16, 2017

It’s just about the closest thing to a safari lodge in the Caribbean, substituting the savannah for the sand.

The Anegada Beach Club, a relatively new resort in the far reaches of the British Virgin Islands, has developed the Caribbean’s most impressive “glamping,” or luxury camping, experience.

Set on a stretch of white sand, the Anegada Beach Club’s striking “luxury tents” are perched among the dunes above the shore, with 10 in total, a few set further back from the beach.

And the tents are beautiful — not rustic, but cleverly designed with solar power and canvas walls and clever, comfortable design.

All of the tents come with a king canopy bed, en-suite bathrooms and hot showers, a daybed, a furnished deck, Wi-Fi, a coffee maker and a table and chairs (although no air conditioning, but that’s not why you’re here, after all).

And if the tents are a bit too adventurous for you, the hotel also offers 16 traditional hotel rooms, along with a great little beach bar, a pool and restaurant.

The tents, though, are the stars here, casting a rather stunning silhouette on this cut of Anegada coast, one of the more remote hotels in the Caribbean in every sense of the word — and that’s what makes it just so special.

Anegada is an island for adventurers, those willing to go the extra mile to find the Caribbean’s truly authentic outposts.

And it delivers.
