Trinidad’s Athletes to Get Cuban Help

A group of Cuban coaches will be heading to Trinidad and Tobago to improve athletic performance in the country, as part of a bilateral sporting agreement between the two countries.

A total of nine coaches will be in Trinidad for a period of two years, all of whom were interviewed and screened by Trinidad’s Ministry of Sport. The coaches will work with athletes and local coaches in a series of sports, including basketball, boxing, volleyball, judo and track and field.

The total program will cost just under $500,000 (TT$3.1 million).

Cuban coaches have in fact been working in Trinidad and Tobago since 2002.
