Westin Grand Cayman Continues With Major Renovation

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 27, 2017

The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa is nearing completion on the second phase of a property-wide renovation that will debut distinctive enhancements to all guest rooms and suites and adjacent corridors.

The project follows the introduction of a new contemporary aesthetic and enriched guest experience within public spaces across the resort, which occupies eight acres along the widest and most expansive portion of Seven Mile Beach.

The second phase of the $50 million project, which wraps up in September 2017, will be completed in time for travelers to enjoy for the peak 2017-2018 Caribbean travel season.

Garcia Stromberg of GS4 Studios of West Palm Beach, Florida drew inspiration from the sights, smells, tastes, sounds, and peace and serenity of the beachfront location to set the framework for the top-to-bottom enhancement.

One of the top Grand Cayman hotels, the Westin Grand Cayman’s redesigned public spaces and accommodations feature natural materials used in harmony with the landscape to create an authentic sense of place for guests.

While contemporary touches are showcased throughout the newly enhanced resort, the design team paid special attention to preserving the property’s Caribbean sensibility.

All of Westin Grand Cayman’s 343 accommodations, ranging from Island View Rooms sized at 380 square feet, to its expansive Presidential Suite and Governor’s Suite both offering 3,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space with private beachfront verandas, received a floor-to-ceiling transformation with colors, textures and materials inspired by the surrounding environment.

Living spaces and bathrooms have been fully updated and modernized with details such as refreshed wood flooring, state-of-the-art appliances and fixtures and glass shower doors, making accommodations more contemporary and welcoming for travelers, according to the property.

“Like the renovation of our lobby and public spaces before it, the new design of our guest rooms and suites creates a warm, inviting and modern welcome for our guests, who will be transported to the beauty outside as they stretch out, relax and anticipate long days of enjoyment along Seven Mile Beach,” said Vice President and Managing Director Morty Valldejuli.

Highlights from the first phase of the renovation include a completely redesigned, open and inviting lobby area, featuring a bright, neutral color palette, natural, linear sand-tone wood plank flooring, organic columns, and planes of soft curves on the ceiling above.

The resort’s freshwater swimming pool was redesigned with a restyled swim-up bar.

Elsewhere, the new Cayman Coffee Exchange now offers light, on-the-go snacks and refreshments, and the resort’s fitness center and retail outlets have been enhanced with modern designs.
