Jamaica saw a 2.8 percent increase in tourist arrivals in 2016, according to the latest data from the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

The country welcomed a total of 2.18 million tourists last year, buoyed by a 4.6 percent improvement in United States-sourced arrivals.

Jamaica struggled in the Canadian market, however, with a 4.9 percent decrease to 372,137 arrivals, while European tourism rose by 5.5 percent to 294,709 stayover arrivals last year.

On the cruise side, Jamaica saw 5.5 percent growth, with a total of just under 1.66 million cruise passenger arrivals in the same period.
