Nevis Projecting Increase in Cruise Calls

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 27, 2016

Nevis is projecting an increase in cruise traffic in the 2016-2017 cruise season, officials said this week.

The island, whose cruise season began this week with the visit of the Azamara Quest, projects an additional 3,000 passengers this season due to additional calls and three larger ships on the roster including Prinsendam, Hamburg, and Saga Pearl.

Nevis has typically targeted small to mid-size cruise ships given the small size of the destination and its port.

“We welcome the start of the cruise season for 2016/2017 and the increased number of passengers expected,” said Mark Brantley, the island’s tourism minister. “We hope whilst here that critical stakeholders such as our taxi operators will take full advantage of the opportunity to show our visitors the very best of Nevis. Our recently refurbished Heritage Village, Bath Hot Springs and the open air museum at the historic New River Estate should be of interest. So, too, our brand new Artisan Village and Craft House add to the numerous offerings in Nevis. We look forward to welcoming our guests to our island home.”
