Jamaica’s Tryall Club Launches Golf Course Renovation

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - August 2, 2016

One of the Caribbean’s top golf resorts has planned a major course renovation.

Jamaica’s Tryall Club has launched a two-phased renovation of the Tryall Golf Club in Montego Bay.

Work on the Back Nine has already begun, with a debut set for October, while renovation of the Front Nine will begin in the summer of 2017.

“The renovation of The Tryall Golf Club course will build upon improvements we have instituted in the past,” said Ewan Peebles, Director of Golf at the Tryall Club. “With the new enhancements we are ensuring a new level of golf to keep pace with the rising expectations of contemporary golfers.”

The property said the goal of the renovation was to provide “outstanding conditions with strategic holes that offer shot value and variety.”

“Though the overall concept of the greens will remain unchanged, usable space and interior contours are being adjusted to ensure greater enjoyment, while greens are being rebuilt to modern standards and situated to provide a sustainable surface for the future,” the property said.

The Tryall Club was designed by course architect Ralph Plummer, first opening in 1961.

It’s a 6,800-yard, 18-hole, Par 72 course.
