JetBlue Adds Mint Service to Grenada Flights

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 20, 2016

JetBlue is ramping up its Caribbean expansion with the addition of another new Mint Cabin service to the region.

The New York City-based carrier has announced the addition of Mint premium cabin service on flights between New York and Grenada, set to launch in January 2017.

Grenada will become the fifth Mint market in the Caribbean region, joining Barbados, Aruba, St Maarten and St Lucia.

The service includes a fully-flat bed, four private suites, a 15-inch flat-screen with entertainment, a signature cocktail, a tapas menu and even fresh espresso from the only cappuccino machine on a US airline.

Other features include amenity kits by Birchbox and dessert from Blue Marble and Mah-ze-Dahr Bakery.

The new service is another sign that JetBlue intends to be the major player, and a major premium player, on US flights to the Caribbean.

“We are thrilled to introduce Mint to a fifth Caribbean route, where customers are paying too much for so-called premium service,” said Dave Clark, vice president network planning at JetBlue. “Our customers are quickly discovering Grenada and its world class beaches, attractions, and luxury resorts. Now customers traveling between New York and this Caribbean gem can enjoy the finest service and comfort during their flight.”

JetBlue launched its first-ever service to Grenada last year, with the flights already helping Grenada see double-digit tourism growth.

The new Mint service will operate through April 2017.

“JetBlue has proven to be a very strategic airline partner for Grenada, offering a flight service from New York, our largest visitor source market,” said Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen. “The responses from visitors and the Grenadian Diaspora have been very positive, so much so that the initial twice-weekly flights increased to four flights per week. We are pleased to welcome this premium experience that gives travelers more options.”
