“This new property reinforces our commitment to the Dominican Republic as one of the best travel destinations in the Caribbean. Expanding the Sunscape Resorts & Spas brand into this destination offers a budget-friendly option that maximizes value to our guests,” remarked Alex Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group. “The Dominican Republic’s geographical positioning makes it easily accessible to Americans, allowing families the opportunity to vacation in a great beachside location.”

The Sunscape Puerto Plata property is surrounded by an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones and is set on the country’s Atlantic coastline.

It also features a Sunscape Spa by Pevonia.

“The Dominican Republic has consistently been at the top of the list for tourists seeking a relaxing vacation,” commented Gonzalo del Peón, President of AMResorts. “Puerto Plata is the ideal place for Sunscape Resorts & Spas. Its richness, history and culture provide families the chance to explore, relax and enjoy an unforgettable vacation.”

In 2015, AMResorts signed 17 new management contracts and added seven new destinations to its portfolio.
