Caribbean Airlines CEO Resigns

Caribbean Airlines CEO Michael DiLollo has resigned, the Trinidad-based carrier announced on Thursday.

DiLollo’s resignation was due to “personal reasons,” the company said in a statement.

“This has received the approval of the board of directors,” the company said.

DiLollo has been replaced on an interim basis by Chief Financial Officer Tyrone Tang, while the company undertakes a search for a permanent replacement.

DiLollo had served as CEO since May 2014, when he replaced then-acting CEO Robert Corbie, who had himself resigned in June 2013.

“The Board has full confidence in the senior leadership team of Caribbean Airlines to continue to implement the approved corporate strategy of the Company,” the company said.

The decision comes just a few weeks after Caribbean Airlines announced it would be eliminating its transatlantic flights from London Gatwick to the Caribbean.

“The Board of Directors thanks Mr. DiLollo for his service to the airline and wish him all the success in his future endeavours,” the carrier said.

DiLollo, a native of Canada, came to the company after spending much of his career at Air Transat.
