Copa, GOL Sign Codeshare Agreement

Panama-based Copa Airlines and Brazil-based GOL have announced the signing of a codeshare agreement.

The agreement aims to “increase connectivity between Copa Airlines and GOL and facilitate travel to and from Brazil throughout Latin America through Copa Airlines’ Hub of the Americas,” according to a statement.

The agreement could prove a boost for Caribbean efforts to attract Brazilian travelers, as Copa has significantly grown its Caribbean network in recent years.

As part of the first phase of the agreement, Copa will also be marketing multiple GOL domestic locations in Brazil, connecting them to seven destinations Copa operates from Brazil to Panama.

“With this alliance between Copa Airlines and GOL, passengers in Brazil will have better options to connect to and from all of Latin America through Copa Airlines’ Hub of the Americas,” said Pablo de la Guardia, Director of Strategic Alliances and Government Affairs of Copa Airlines. “Similarly, it will now be easier and more comfortable for passengers anywhere in Latin America to arrive directly to their final destination city in Brazil.”

The companies also signed a frequent flier agreement.
