Security checks lead to delays

LIAT has issued an advisory stating that, while it is operating its standard scheduled services to and from Trinidad, travelers should expect delays due to extensive airport authority security checks at Piarco International Airport.

Head of Corporate Communications Desmond Brown spoke of long lines at the security checkpoints and recommended that customers traveling from Trinidad arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure.

“Customers using the Piarco International Airport are advised to leave their home or hotel earlier than they normally would, giving themselves enough time to pass through airport security,” said LIAT Head of Corporate Communications Desmond Brown.

Brown added that the airline’s significant delays in Trinidad could potentially affect other LIAT flights in the region.

The company said it apologized for the inconvenience caused as a result of the security checks.
