First Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo Behgjet Pacolli said the CARICOM-Central American region, whose leaders are meeting in El Salvador this week, could recognize statehood for Kosovo. “We can confirm to you that we have strong signals that soon we will have recognition from the two countries of Central America-CARICOM,” a communique released by the cabinet said. It’s not the first time this claim has been made, however. In September 2010, Albanian Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli said CARICOM would soon recognise Kosovo’s statehood, saying she had received a letter from George McGuire, her counterpart in Grenada.
