In a bid to expand tourism, Grenada is looking close to home.

The country is hosting a series of promotional activities in Trinidad and Tobago this week, including two travel agent expos, a consumer show and a press conference.

The aim is “aim of selling Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique as the destination of choice for leisure and romance,” according to a statement.

“Hosting Trinbagonians is like hosting family; the similarities in cultural expressions and the tranquility of our three islands make it the perfect getaway,” said Chrislyn Lashington, corporate communications officer for the GTA.

Last year, around 13,000 visitors from Trinidad and Tobago came to Grenada, the largest regional Caribbean source market for Grenada.

Grenada Culture Minister Brenda Hood is leading the country’s tourism delegation this week, which includes a host of local hoteliers.

“The Grenada Tourism Authority continues to market and promote the destination, Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, which offers safe, relaxing holidays and a tempting selection of soft adventures,” the agency said.
