Accor North America, Central America and Caribbean has named Balendra Nagesvaran the company’s new vice president of operations for its luxury and upscale brands in the region.

The segment includes the Sofitel, Pullman and MGallery hotels in the region, excluding Cuba and the Dominican Republic.

He will also oversee development of new properties including the Sofitel Mexico Reforma, which is planning to open in 2017.

“Balendra has been integral to the Sofitel leadership team and the success of the brand for more than two decades,” said Dominique Colliat, executive vice president at Accor North America. “With his exceptional track record and experience, his expertise will position Accor’s upscale and luxury brands for greater growth.”

Nagesvaran had previously been serving as vice president of hotel operations for North America and general manager for Sofitel New York.
