American Airlines: Caribbean, Latin America Numbers Continue Decline

American Airlines Group is seeing a continued slump in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Revenue passenger miles to the region fell by 5.2 percent in October to 2.178 billion, compared to the same month in 2013.

It was another monthly year-over-year drop to the region for the Caribbean’s leading air carrier.

For the year to date, American Airlines has reported 26.79 billion revenue passenger miles to the region, up 0.7 percent compared to the first 10 months of 2013.

Overall, the carrier saw a 3.7 percent drop in revenue passenger miles for international traffic in October.

The carrier’s load factor increased by 0.3 percent in October to 79.3 percent; for the year, load factor is down by 3 percent compared to the first 10 months of 2013.
