Which countries in the Caribbean have the best logistics performance?

To find out, CJ looked at the recently-released Logistics Performance Index from the World Bank, a benchmarking tool which was created by the bank “to help countries identify the challenges and opportunities they face in their performance on trade logistics and what they can do to improve their performance.”

This year’s index, which covers 160 countries, is based on a global survey of operators from express carriers to global freight forwarders.

The survey included factors like customs and border management clearance efficiency, logistics services, the ease of arranging shipments, the quality of trade and infrastructure, timeliness and tracking and tracing, among others.

And it was the Bahamas that came out on top, ranked 66th in the world, the highest of any country in the Caribbean, followed by the Dominican Republic, which was ranked 69th in the world.

For the Bahamas, it was a sharp improvement from the country’s 80th place ranking in the report’s last edition in 2012. The Dominican Republic was ranked 85th in 2012.

As a comparison, we included data on several countries in the wider Caribbean basin.
