Jamaica-based regional tour company Island Routes has debuted its first-ever fully-owned and operated property this year, the River Bumpkin Farm.

The farm, located in the Trelawny forest of Jamaica, officially opened last week.

Formerly a sugar plantation, it has a series of attractions, including kayaking, river tubing and biking.

“It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening of our new property, the River Bumpkin Farm,” said David Shields, general manager of Island Routes, in a statement. “We are constantly growing while always remaining true to our ‘routes’ and our dedication to showing visitors to Jamaica the true beauty and off-the-beaten-path experiences available in our backyard.”

Many of the property’s original buildings were used in the plantation’s onetime rum production process, and a bike tour past the ruins is available.

It’s the latest expansion for a company that debuted its new headquarters in Montego Bay earlier this month.

Island Routes is a subsidiary of Sandals Resorts International.
