Rum Journal: At Elodia’s Beach Bar in Anguilla, the Art of Rum Punch

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 26, 2014

ALL RUM PUNCH is good. If you’re on the beach in the Caribbean, sipping on a red-hued rum cocktail, chances are it will be excellent.

Every once in a while, though, you come upon a rum punch that reaches another level entirely.

Enter Elodia’s Beach Bar on Anguilla’s Shoal Bay, which produces a rum punch unlike any other in the region.

And unlike many other rum punches whose recipes are closely-guarded secrets, Elodia’s was more than happy to spread the love.

The punch begins with a combination of guava, pineapple and orange juices, followed by a trilogy of rums: Mount Gay from Barbados, Myers from Jamaica and Malibu coconut rum.

Then comes the party piece: a splash of Disaronno, a welcome newcomer to the art of rum punch.

And finally, a dash of Angostura bitters and a sprinkling of nutmeg.

The result? A spectacular rum punch — one of the best Rum Journal has ever had the privilege to taste.

It’s best served on the beach in Shoal Bay, of course.
