The first Hyatt-branded Cancun all inclusive has officially opened its doors.

The Hyatt Zilara Cancun officially opened this week, the first of what will be a series of new Hyatt-branded all-inclusive properties in the Caribbean region.

The 307-room Zilara Cancun is located in Cancun’s Hotel Zone and is an adults-only property. Hyatt made a major foray into the all-inclusive market with its investment in Playa Hotels & Resorts in August.

Among its new all-inclusives will be a property at the site of the former Ritz-Carlton Montego Bay in Jamaica. The Playa portfolio will include a total of 13 properties and 5,800 rooms in Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

“We believe that the new Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva brands will offer existing all-inclusive guests a unique Hyatt experience and will attract a new customer to the all-inclusive resort experience by bringing brand distinction to this desirable and growing market segment,” said Bruce Wardinski, CEO of Playa Hotels & Resorts BV,
