LIAT management held discussions Wednesday with the LIAT Pilots Association to address the union’s industrial action.

The meeting was conducted in what LIAT management called a “cordial” atmosphere; LIAT Acting CEO Julie Reifer-Jones represented the company, while Captain Carl Burke represented LIALPA.

In a statement, Reifer-Jones said she “welcomed” the LIALPA delegation.

The two sides reportedly agreed that the meeting would “serve as a forum to listen to LIALPA’s concerns and to determine the way forward.”

LIAT management said it acknowledged that there were “legitimate concerns” on the part of the union.

Both sides will continue discussions; LIAT said it continues to “seek to restore normal operations and efforts to get dislocated passengers to their various destinations as quickly as possible are ongoing.”

“LIAT acknowledges with regret the inconvenience and disruption passengers throughout the region have experienced,” it said.
