Antigua and Barbuda and China have signed an agreement for the construction of a “multipurpose community centre” as part of the Gray’s Green Community Comprehensive Buildings Project.

The agreement on the project, which has been in the works for seven years, will include a basketball gymnasium and multi-purpose community centre on a site in the Grays Green community once known as Knuckle Block. That is Spencer’s constituency in Parliament.

“I am very pleased that this is happening and I need to thank the individuals who have stuck with it over the years to bring us to this point,” Spencer said following the signing.

Spencer and Ren Gonping, China’s Ambassador to Antigua, signed the agreement, which also includes the development of the King George V Playing Field to include a pavillion with bleachers.

Terms of the project were not released.
