Haiti President Michel Martelly held a meeting this week with former Haiti President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, a source confirmed to Caribbean Journal.

It’s not yet clear what was covered during meeting, which was first reported by Radio Station Vision 2000.

Martelly and Aristide first met shortly after the former took office as Haiti’s President in 2011.

Aristide made a public appearance in Haiti in May 2013, his first since returning to the country from exile in 2011, appearing to testify in a court hearing concerning the murder of journalist Jean Dominique in 2000.

Aristide served three different times as Haiti’s President: in 1991 (before he was removed in a coup), from 1994 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2004. He was removed in a second coup in 2004 and driven into exile.

Aristide remains the head of the Fanmi Lavalas party, which has generally been barred from the country’s elections since the 2004 coup.

Haiti says it is planning to hold a number of senate, local and municipal elections by the end of the year, although no date has yet been decided.
