Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will head to New York next week for the opening of the Unite Nations General Assembly.

The world body will be holding its 68th annual session, and Antigua’s John Ashe will serve as President this year.

Persad-Bissessar will also hold several bilateral meetings, including talks with Organization of American States Secretary General Jose Miguel Inszula.

She will also speak at the Clinton Global Initiative’s 2013 Annual Meeting, which is being held under the theme of “Mobilizing for Impact.”

In a statement, the Prime Minister said she was looking forward to “participating in the global discussion and exchange of ideas from which Trinidad and Tobago will surely benefit.”

Legal Affairs Minister Prakash Ramadhar will act as Prime Minister during the PM’s absence.

She will return to the country Sept. 26.
