The Hedonism II resort in Negril, Jamaica has begun a $5 million renovation project.

The move comes after the property was sold to Marshmallow Limited that was finalized in early 2013.

Phase one of a two-part renovation has already launched, with 34 rooms set to be completely renovated by Oct. 30. The refurbishments will include new furniture, glass-enclosed bathrooms and in-room mood lighting, according to the property.

The hotel is also launching a refurbishment project for another 246 guest rooms, including the replacement of bedding and curtains and the additions of new refrigerators and flat-screen televisions.

The wider project will be completed by the end of December, the property said.

Hedonism II will launch phase two in May 2014, with plans for the renovation of another 100 rooms, along with the revamp of the Hurricanes nightclub and the addition of a new “play room.”

“We are very happy to let our new and returning guests know that by January 2014 all guest rooms will have undergone some level of refurbishment,” said Kevin Levee, general manager of Hedonism II. “We look forward to delivering unmatched quality and service in the months ahead as we improve upon the product that so many have grown to treasure over the years.”
