LIAT has officially launched service from Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport to Guyana’s Ogle International Airport.

The company launched its first flight on Saturday, the first of what will be daily scheduled service between Barbados and Ogle.

The service represents an expansion in Guyana for the Caribbean airline, which had previously only served Guyana’s Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

The company said the “closer proximity” of Ogle to Georgetown, Guyana’s capital, would give it “a competitive advantage, since flying into Ogle would mean reduced flying time and an annual fuel reduction for the airline.”

LIAT will soon be introducing a late night and early morning departure from Cheddi Jagan, it said.
