Jamaican sprinter Nickel Ashmeade took first place in the 200 metre men’s race at the Eugene Diamond League meet this weekend in Oregon.

Ashmeade, who also took home first place in the 200M at last year’s Birmingham Diamond League meet, finished in 20.14, just ahead of the United States’ Walter Dix and fellow Jamaican Jason Young.

After winning the 400M in Shanghai last month, however, Grenadian gold medalist Kirani James finished second in the 400M, with a time of 44.39, just behind American Lashawn Merritt.

Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment finished with a national record in the men’s 110M hurdles, finishing in 13.05 seconds to beat out Cuba’s Orlando Ortega.

In the men’s 100M, Jamaica’s Nesta Carter finished fourth as Americans Justin Gatlin, Michael Rodgers and Ryan Bailey swept the first three spots.

On the women’s side, Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce continued her early-season dominance with a win in the 100M, finishing in 10.71, while teammate Veronica Campbell-Brown finished third.
