New Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Zhang Limin recently held talks with Guyana Environment and Natural Resources Minister Robert Persaud on potential areas of cooperation.

The discussions focused on bilateral and technical cooperation within the natural resources and environmental sectors, according to a government release.

That could include, investments, training and technical support for Guyana’s “expanding” natural resources sector, which has seen rapid growth over the last several years, particularly in gold mining.

Persaud said he “welcomed support in the use of environmentally friendly technology” as Guyana pushes ahead on its Low-Carbon Development Strategy.
