Montserrat Premier Reuben Meade called for a green approach to governance and the economy this week during a presentation at a high-level conference of Overseas Countries and Territories in Greenland.
Meade, speaking at the 11th OCT-European Union forum, focused on sustainability as an economic driver.
“Instead of traveling by plane to meetings,” he said, “we need to increase the use of video conferencing.”
The Premier also spoke to delegates about Montserrat’s current push for geothermal power, and the possibility of using solar energy on the island.
“We must continue our efforts in reducing carbon emission, but we need the rest of the world on board,” he said.
