After marked improvement by Haiti last month in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Football Rankings, Jamaica has surged to regain the lead among Caribbean sides.

The rankings, released Wednesday, place Jamaica at 66th in the world, just ahead of South Africa. Haiti, which had been ranked 62nd in the world in last month’s list, fell 18 spots to 80th.

It is now tied with Trinidad and Tobago, which saw no change in the rankings.

The next-highest-ranked team is Antigua and Barbuda, which climbed six spots to 100th in the world. Guyana stayed flat at 109th in the world, while St Kitts and Nevis fell one spot to 113.

The Dominican Republic surged 12 spots to 118th in the world, Belize fell one notch to 132nd, and Suriname dropped three spots to 135th.

Grenada, which saw its international sporting profile rise significantly with Kirani James’ gold medal in London this week, remained at 142nd.
