5 Adults-Only Resorts to Visit Right Now in the Caribbean

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 9, 2024

Sometimes you just want that extra degree of serenity, of privacy, of seclusion. There is a reason, after all, that adults-only resorts are booming in popularity, particularly in the Caribbean: travelers want to know that when they arrive, they know what they’re getting. But the adults-only landscape is diverse, with a different kind of resort for just about every kind of travelers. For some, there are remote hotels perfect for the naturalist; for others, you can find boutique-style wellness hotels; others have the best of both worlds, with the relaxation you’re seeking and copious entertainment options to choose from. Here are five of our favorite adults-only retreats to check in to right now.

Galley Bay, Antigua This place is just breathtakingly beautiful. The intimate, 98-room Galley Bay is set on a stunning peninsula on the west coast of Antigua, with a sublime beach, a lagoon and a lush resort that teems with tropical birds and an overarching feeling of calm. The rooms are outstanding, whether you stay in the toes-in-the-sand rooms that are literally right on the beach to Galley Bay’s famous Gauguin Cottages, which come with their own private plunge pools and an extra dose of privacy. (It’s all-inclusive).

The Verandah Antigua The buzziest adults-only all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean is the transformed Verandah, which officially relaunched late last year as an adults-only and marries the essence of tropical tranquility with an impressive slate of entertainment and activities, from the best mini-golf course in the Caribbean to an impressive new culinary program. You’ll also find some particularly lovely, classic Caribbean cottages shaded by palm trees.

The Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort on Eagle Beach.

Bucuti & Tara Beach Resort, Aruba It just might be the greenest resort in the Caribbean, and this Aruba institution has turned the adults-only experience into an art form. Set on just about the most beautiful stretch of beach in Aruba (a prime perch on Eagle Beach), Bucuti is a mix of 59 rooms and 45 suites, all meticulously designed and outfitted with thoughtful touches like air purifiers and Tempur Pedic mattresses. Note: it’s not all-inclusive.

Serenity at Coconut Bay in Saint Lucia’s rooms.

Serenity at Coconut Bay, Saint Lucia Set on the beautiful southern tip of Saint Lucia, this adults-only all-inclusive enclave has a very private collection of 36 suites, all with their own private plunge pools, all with impressive patios, waterfalls, and, most importantly, butler service. Even better? All of the amenities at the adjacent Coconut Bay resort are also available to you.

One of the plunge-pool rooms at Bamboo.

Bamboo Bonaire Boutique Resort This has always been oneour favorite boutique hotels in the wider Caribbean — and it’s also, happily, an adults-only. There’s just something about the design of this tiny hotel. It’s beautifully landscaped, with large rooms (including some with plunge pools), a Bali-inspired aesthetic and an impressive wellness program and spa. That’s without mentioning the on-site eatery, CHEFS, which we named this year as the fourth-best restaurant in the Caribbean. Note: it’s not all-inclusive.
