Another New Adults-Only All-Inclusive Just Debuted in the “New Cancun”

By: Alexander Britell - February 7, 2024

The strip of coastline north of Cancun and across the water from the island of Isla Mujeres has had many names. For some, it’s Playa Mujeres. For others, it’s Costa Mujeres. The most popular name might just be the “New Cancun.”

Because in recent years, this area has seen a wave of new development, with more and more large hotel brands opening resorts, from the ever-expanding Riu to Dreams to the boutique Atelier brand.

Now, another major resort has opened its doors in the New Cancun: the new Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres, a 507-room adults-only property that is part of Hyatt’s expanding all-inclusive portfolio in the region.

The new Secrets Playa Blanca is opening on a multi-phased schedule: the resort’s spa, wellness center and theater will all be officially open by June, according to Hyatt Hotels.

“We take great pride in further solidifying the Inclusive Collection’s position in Mexico through the debut of Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres ,” said the resort’s general manager, Erik van der Kaaij.

Playa Blanca is the latest in a growing number of Secrets-branded resorts to open in the Mexican Caribbean, buoyed by sizzling demand for both all-inclusive resorts and, more importantly, those of the adults-only variety.

The resort has a pair of infinity pools right on the beach, joined by four bigger pools and a separate pool for those who upgrade to the property’s Preferred Club. That’s along with 10 smaller pools that are for guests who book swim-up rooms.

When it opens, the resort’s spa will have a total of 29,000 square feet of space, joined by what Hyatt calls a “state-of-the-art fitness facility.”

While it doesn’t have a convention center, the resort does have more than 9,000 square feet of variable indoor and outdoor event space, including 11 different options outside.

As with an increasing number of Hyatt’s all-inclusives, this one will be part of the World of Hyatt program.
