The Dominican Republic’s Samana Is Getting a Boost From Canada

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 7, 2023

It’s arguably the fastest-growing destination in the Dominican Republic: the peninsula of Samana on the country’s northeastern coast, known for uncrowded beaches, lush forests and charming beach towns.

Now, Samana is getting a major new push from Canadian travel giant Transat Tours, which is planing to launch new flights directly to Samana.

Dominican Republic tourism officials have signed an agreement with Transat Tours that would ensure 45,000 new arrivals fro Canada.

“We continue to develop key alliances for tourism,” said Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado.

The announcement was made following the inauguration of the new-look Cayo Levantado resort, an all-inclusive private-island property in Samana that recently underwent a dramatic re-imagination by parent company Grupo Piñero.

Samana is soon getting another resort, with the imminent arrival of a new all-inclusive from Wyndham’s Alltra brand.
