A New Luxury All-Inclusive Resort Just Opened in Barbados

By: Alexander Britell - October 14, 2023

It’s the most anticipated new hotel opening in Barbados in years — if not decades.

Wyndham Grand is opening the long-awaited Sam Lord’s Castle Resort this month.

The soft-opening of the new 422-room all-inclusive resort will make place on Oct. 12, followed by a formal grand opening in early 2024, according to Wyndham.

The property, set on the increasingly popular south coast of the island, is set at the former site of Sam Lord’s Castle, named for a 19th century privateer.

The resort is on the south coast of Barbados.

“Barbados offers the perfect backdrop for a chic and upscale getaway – lush, tropical gardens, uninterrupted ocean views and an array of opportunities to unplug, unwind and make lasting memories with friends and family,” said Gustavo Viescas, president, Latin America and Caribbean at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. “Wyndham Grand Barbados brings all of that to life on our legendary grounds, allowing guests to take a step back to practice self-care and immerse themselves in the beauty of the nature around them.”

The new-build property will include 10 dining concepts, including a “farm-to-fork” program featuring locally-sourced food.

Sam Lord’s Castle will also include a 13,000-square-foot spa with a pool area, fitness center and yoga center.

Other amenities will include lagoon-style pools, a kids’ club, butler service and a tennis and pickelball center.  It’s part of a growing all-inclusive footprint for Wyndham in the Caribbean across several different hotel brands.

It’s also another strong addition to what is already one of the Caribbean’s top all-inclusive selections in Barbados, from Marriott’s large portfolio of Barbados resorts to the outstanding Ocean Hotels collection.

“Wyndham Grand offers the perfect combination of aspirational, dream-worthy destinations with cozy rooms and indulgent amenities that make any trip feel special,” said Jimena Faena, vice president, Latin America and Caribbean Marketing and Brand Operations, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “At Wyndham Grand Barbados, everything is at your fingertips, making it easier than ever to kick back, relax and enjoy the beauty that Barbados has to offer.”
