Four Seasons’ Costa Rica Resort Is Getting a New Look

By: Jose Antonio - July 12, 2023

The Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo is getting a new look, headlined by a new beach club and a transformed Arnold Palmer golf course, Caribbean Journal has learned.

This fall, the resort will undergo a renovation project led by Peninsula Papagayo developers Mohari and Gencom, meaning it will pause operations from August to October 2023.

The renovation is slated for completion Nov. 1, 2023.

The project will include the addition of the new Virador Beach Club, an Eastern Mediterranean-style beach club and lounge with an infinity pool and private cabanas.

The property will also launch a new wellness destination called the Wellness Shala, transform its Kids for All Seasons kids club and renovate its Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course.

The Wellness Sala is a new architectural space set in the hills, a “bridge between modern wellness practices and ancestral rituals.”

“Our guests choose us for our personalized service, connection to nature, great beaches and attention to detail,” said Ian-Robert Ciappara, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort Peninsula Papagayo. “The creation of the Virador Beach Club, the Wellness Shala and the complete transformation of Kids For All Seasons, as well as golf renovation, will enhance the guest’s experience, giving them even more reason to return to our slice of paradise.”

As for the Arnold Palmer renovation, the developers are making sustainability a focus: that includes a precision irrigation system that will reduce water by 20 percent; redefining 12 acres of native negation with less bunkering, and expanding the teeing area.

“We are thrilled to bring more sustainable practices to the Ocean Course,” said Dakota Smith, Director of Golf. “The updates will conserve a significant amount of water while adding beauty, color and texture to the landscape mosaic,”
