LVMH’s Newest Caribbean Resort to Open in Riviera Maya

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 3, 2023

The highly-anticipated Maroma, a Belmond Hotel is set to open its doors next month, according to Belmond.

The completely transformed resort on the Riviera Maya will begin welcoming guests on Aug. 3, 2023, according to Belmond. The property has been closed for a large-scale redesign, the first of its kind for LVMH in the region.

It’s one of just three Belmond-branded resorts in the wider Caribbean, along with Belmond La Samana in St Martin and Belmond Cap Juluca in Anguilla.

Belmond calls the new Maroma “a fresh vision of an enduring legend, and a place to feel more alive than ever before.”

The classic property will have a deep focus on food, with a blend of sustainable Mexican flavors and international cuisine.

The redesign of the resort was “championed by Mexican artisans,” rooted in the history of the region.

The resort will have just 63 rooms and suites in a plum perch on the coast of the Mexican Caribbean, along with a collection of beachfront villas.

And yes, this is a Belmond, so there will be a major spa: the new Maroma Spa by Guerlain, just the second Guerlain spa in the Caribbean, joining the existing one at fellow LVMH property Cheval Blanc in St Barth. (Cap Juluca is also working on opening a Guerlain spa later this year).

It will immediately vault itself into the pantheon of great luxury resorts in the Mexican Caribbean, a rarefied group of luxury EP properties up and down the Mexican Caribbean coast.
