American Airlines, JetBlue Adding More Barbados Flights

By: Alexander Britell - April 5, 2023

It’s getting even easier to visit the island of Barbados, thanks to the addition of new nonstop flights from major carriers including American Airlines and JetBlue.

This summer, American Airlines will be launching an additional daily nonstop flight between Miami and Barbados, with service operating between Aug. 15 and Sept. 5, 2023.

That will complement existing twice-daily service from Miami to Barbados.

American Airlines is also ramping up its service to Barbados from Charlotte, resuming daily flights between Charlotte and Barbados beginning Dec. 21.

It’s a significant increase from existing weekly service from Charlotte, and will be continuing though at least April 3. (Between Jan. 8, 2024 and March 4, 2024, service will operate five times each week).

“We’re extremely excited to expand the airlift servicing our US market for 2023 and going into 2024,” said Eusi Skeete, US Director for Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. “We understand that demand for the destination is very high and we’ve been working closely with our longstanding airline partners to meet this demand.”

JetBlue is extending its second daily flight between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Barbados through September and October 2023.

The flight had previously bee slated to end at the beginning of September, but will now continue on through October.

“We are continuously identifying growth opportunities to expand airlift across the US market and are quite optimistic for the prospect of increased service, particularly as demand for travel to Barbados remains high,” said Skeete. “We will continue to work closely with our airline partners to create even more travel opportunities as we expand across the US.”

Barbados is seeing strong visitor numbers so far in 2023.

The island is also priming for the highly-anticipated Caribbean Travel Marketplace conference, with the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s annual gathering coming to Barbados’ Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in May.
