Avianca Is Adding More Flights to Aruba

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 26, 2023

South America has always been a very strong market for Aruba, thanks in large part due to the island’s proximity to the continent.

And now one of the region’s top carriers is expanding its service to the Dutch Caribbean island, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Colombia’s Avvinca is adding more flights between Medellin and Aruba this summer, the Aruba Airport Authority confirmed.

On June 13, Avianca will be increasing its weekly flights from Medellin to four frequencies, with service on Tuesday, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The expansion will complement Wingo’s four-times-weekly service from Medellin.

“The Latin American market promises to be a market that will continue to develop and grow,” said Jo-Anne Meaux-Arends, aviation business development executive at the Aruba Airport Authority. “Aside from the fact that the economy of the countries are advancing, there is also more interest in visiting Aruba; and at Aruba Airport we regularly seek to probe new opportunities for more capacity from the mainland, but especially Colombia.”
