New Cayman Islands-Panama Flights

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 14, 2023

Cayman Airways is restarting its nonstop service between the Cayman Islands and Panama this summer.

The company will be relaunching the route between Grand Cayman and Panama City on June 26, according to the carrier.

The nonstop service will be operating year-round, with flights on Mondays and Thursdays.

Cayman Airways is operating the service on 160-seat B737-8 jets, part of the carrier’s new fleet.

It’s a significant connection for Cayman, with Panama City’s place as a significant air hub for most of South America and Central America.

“This is the second major launch between Grand Cayman and a major gateway in just six months,” said Cayman Islands Minister of Tourism and Transport Kenneth Bryan.

“Given the significance of tourism to the Cayman Islands economy, we are fortunate to have Cayman Airways as our National Airline and strategic tourism partner. I would like to thank the airline’s management and staff who I know have worked extremely hard to have this service up and running in a relatively short space of time,” Bryan said.

The flights takes a little under two hours.

“This route will provide the perfect mix of options for leisure and business travel for our customers in Cayman as well as in Latin America,” said Cayman Airways President and CEO Fabian Whorms. “The schedule also connects with some of our existing international routes, including Havana, Kingston, and Miami.”

It’s the second major launch for Cayman Islands in the last year, joining the popular new route between Los Angeles and Grand Cayman that launched last November.
