Bonaire Keeps Up Strong Tourism Growth

By: Dana Niland - February 3, 2023

Bonaire welcomed 16,285 stayover visitors in January if 2023– over 10 percent more than stayover visitors recorded in January 2019.

The island’s two largest source markets have shown signs of growth, with a total of 8,383 Dutch visitors and 3,938 American visitors.

Visitors from the United States stayed an average of seven nights while those from the Netherlands stayed an average of fourteen.

Additionally, 1,428 of all visitors to Bonaire came from the neighboring island of Curaçao, making up eight percent of all visitors.

Bonaire saw 533 Canadian stayover visitors in January, making Canada the island’s fourth best-performing market that month.

Multiple secondary markets, including Germany, Aruba, Belgium, France, Switzerland and Colombia, have kept the same market share in January 2023 as they did in December 2022.

Tourism Corporation Bonaire also reported that thirty cruise ships visited the island in December of 2022, bringing a total of 73,592 passengers.

The island is projecting strong growth for 2023, including an exciting slate of events throughout the year led by Bonaire Rum Week in June.
