A New Year-Round Resort in Anguilla

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 25, 2022

Anguilla’s new Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club, the rebranded and transformed former CuisinArt resort, has announced plans to stay open year-round, Caribbean Journal has learned.

That would make it largely unique among the majority of Anguilla’s top resorts, most of which tend to close during September and October.

The resort is the product of a multimillion-dollar renovation, and recently debuted its completely reimagined Aurora International Golf Club.

The property, which is owned by Best Buy founder Richard M. Schulze, is now managed by Salamander Hotels and Resorts, which also manages the iconic Half Moon resort in Jamaica.

“Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club is committed to supporting the island’s tourism industry and we will remain open throughout the traditional off-season,” said Aurora Anguilla Managing Director Christopher Walling. “Our newly renovated property has received tremendous acclaim under Mr. Schulze, who is dedicated to supporting the local community in numerous ways.”

This fall, Aurora is opening more amenities, including a new short golf course, a golf instructional facility and a new version of its popular Tokyo Bay restaurant.

Schulze has more plans, including the addition of a 500-seat amphitheater and courts for pickleball, tennis, basketball and bocce.

“We welcome the decision by the Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club to operate year-round, which represents a tremendous vote of confidence in our island and in our tourism industry,” stated Stacey Liburd, Anguilla’s Director of Tourism.  “Becoming a 12-month destination has long been a strategic goal of the Anguilla Tourist Board, and this moves us that much closer to realizing our objective. We applaud the visionary leadership demonstrated by Mr. Schulze and his team.”

Anguilla recently updated its protocols, including the waiving of testing for vaccinated travelers.
