Air passenger traffic to Cancun is rebounding after a sluggish start to 2024, according data from ASUR, which manages Cancun International Airport.

The Mexican Caribbean hotspot reported air passenger traffic of 2.738 million in February, a 4.9 percent jump from February 2023.

That was buoyed by a strong increase in international traffic, up to 2.032 million in the month.

That came after a January that saw just an 0.8 percent growth in passenger traffic.

For the year, Cancun’s air passenger traffic stands at just under 5.7 million, up 2.7 percent from the first two months of last year.

The increase comes even as the Mexican Caribbean (and other tourism destinations in Mexico) have been seeing an increase in crime, something that has not seemed to deter vacation seekers.
