Another Reason for Wine Lovers to Come to Nassau

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 21, 2024

Nassau has long been a haven for wine lovers, with a host of restaurants with impressive wine lists — none more so than the Graycliff Hotel, which has the third-largest wine cellar in the world

Now, wine lovers have another great reason to visit The Bahamas’ capital: the Rosewood Baha Mar will welcome Michael Kennedy, sommelier and founder of Vin Fraîche Wine Group, to The Bahamas for two evenings of culinary discovery during The Cheese Shed Meets Rosewood Baha Mar and The Art of Wine Series: A Discovery of Cabernet Sauvignon events.

The Rosewood Baha Mar team will transport guests to Napa Valley as it transforms The Library Lounge into The Cheese Shed at Fraîche Wine, a rustic retreat enveloped by the vineyards of Coombsville.

On Feb. 27 from 5-6 p.m., Michael Kennedy will guide attendees through a paired tasting of rare cheeses and outstanding wines.

Taking place on Feb. 29 from 6-10 p.m., The Art of Wine Series: A Discovery of Cabernet Sauvignon invites attendees into Café Boulud’s private dining space, The Cellar, where Bahamian artwork and wine lockers line the walls.

It’s a chance to try some of the rarest California Cabernets, available on the island for one night only, while indulging in expertly-paired dishes curated by Executive Chef Antoine Baillargeon during the multi-course experience.

Hailing from St. Louis, Michael Kennedy serves as the founder and owner of Fraîche Wine Group, which utilizes distinct wineries in Napa Valley, Bordeaux, Oregon, and Tuscany.

Guests will have the opportunity to engage and converse with him regarding the history of the group, his favorite flavor profiles, preferred pairings and more.
