A New Way to Travel to St Croix and St Maarten

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 25, 2024

A new San Juan-based service will add another option for travelers looking to the islands of St Croix and St Maarten.

Beginning in June, Frontier Airlines is launching new flights between San Juan and both St Croix in the US Virgin Islands and St Maarten.

San Juan-St Croix flights will operate three times per week, with service kicking off on June 2. Even better? Fares will start as low as $19.

San Juan-St Maarten office will launch on June 3, with flights twice per week.

While both routes add connections between two popular Caribbean hotspots, there’s a more important effect: they connect both St Croix and St Maarten to the massive network of flights from the mainland United States into San Juan.

That includes of course Frontier’s huge number of flights from the mainland US to San Juan, with service from 16 different cities in the mainland US, from Miami to Cleveland to Dallas and Baltimore-Washington.

That’s particularly significant for St Croix, which has been seeing a surge in travel demand in the post-pandemic period.

Are you planning a getaway to St Maarten or St Croix?

St Croix has become one of the culinary capitals of the Caribbean in recent years, with a wave of top chefs and new eateries opening their doors; it’s also home to one of the most popular adults-only hotels in the region, The Fred in the increasingly hip town of Frederiksted.

St Maarten is actually two destinations in one, with the fun-loving Dutch side alongside the gourmet-friendly French side, the latter home to a wonderful collection of boutique hotels and beach resorts like the Grand Case Beach Club
