Hyatt just opened another new resort in the Dominican Republic, its second new hotel in the country the last month.

The new addition? The Sunscape Dominicus La Romana, an 854-room, family-friendly resort.

It’s the second new Sunscape in the Dominican Republic for Hyatt, following last month’s debut of the new, similarly-large Sunscape Coco Punta Cana.

The La Romana resort is geared for families, with larger-size guest rooms that range up to 1,800 square foot, along with the option for connecting rooms with both junior suites and “family villas.”

Other family-friendly touches include an in-room mini-bar with what Hyatt called “kid-friendly snacks”; a dedicated family section on the beach (joined by a special adults-only section, too); an Explorer’s Club for kids ages three to 12; and a teen-focused club called Core Zone.

Dining options include 11 different concepts, from a food truck to an international steakhouse called La Cala that’s just for adults.

The latter is part of a property-wide trend, with a number of dedicated areas geared specifically for adults or for families, including special adults and family sections of the property’s beach.

It’s part of Hyatt’s growing Inclusive Collection, which continues to expand around the Caribbean-Mexico region.

“The debut of Sunscape Dominicus La Romana reinforces the Inclusive Collection’s commitment to fostering family-friendly experiences for guests seeking a fun-filled getaway where everything is included,” says Gonzalo del Peón, Group President, Global Commercial for the Inclusive Collection at Hyatt. “With continued demand within the four-star all-inclusive category, the Inclusive Collection made a strategic decision to expand the Sunscape Resort and Spa brand’s presence in the idyllic destination of La Romana, offering memorable amenities to create the vacation of their dreams.”

Hyatt says it’s offering special grand opening rates, including $200 in resort coupons for travelers who book their vacations through Jan. 14 (for travel through Dec. 20).

The hotel is also part of the World of Hyatt program, meaning Hyatt loyalty members can book their vacations at the all-inclusive resort on points.
