Anguilla Looking to Grow Golf Market

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 22, 2023

It’s home to one of the top golf offerings in the Caribbean: the island of Anguilla, whose Aurora Anguilla Resort and Club has been solidifying its position as a premier Caribbean golf destination.

That culminated in its recent crown as Caribbean Golf Resort of the Year in the Caribbean Travel Awards.

Now, Anguilla officials say they are looking to grow the golf tourism market, tapping into a massive community of golfers, particularly in the United States, one that has grown significantly in golf’s post-pandemic boom.

Aurora, the former CuisinArt resort, has embarked on a years-long project to transform its golf facilities, including a revamped Greg Norman design (with some of the most spectacular golf course views anywhere in the region), along with a new Norman-designed nine-hole short course and a golf academy.

“The golf market is a resilient, year-round travel segment and Anguilla is ideally positioned to provide golf enthusiasts with an exceptional golf experience,” stated Mrs. Stacey Liburd, Anguilla’s Director of Tourism.   “We offer a range of golf outings: guests can play a full round of 18-holes on the stunning Aurora championship course; opt for 9-holes on Avalon Links if they are pressed for time; or take the family to enjoy an 18-hole round of mini-golf in Island Harbour.”

Getting to Anguilla has never been easier: luxury airline Tradewind Aviation has relaunched its flights from San Juan, and American Airlines is flying nonstop from Miami.

Aurora also offers charter flights between New York’s Westchester County Airport and Anguilla, with flights running between December and April 2024. (The service is open for booking to guests and non-guests alike).
