Endless beaches, rainforests, volcanoes, the world’s best rum. The French Caribbean island of Martinique is as diverse a getaway as you’ll find in the Caribbean.

In a nod to increasing demand for the destination, Air Canada has officially launched its newest nonstop route to the island: Toronto to Fort-de-France.

The new nonstop flights, the first ever between Toronto and Martinique, are operating on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with capacity for 169 passengers (including 16 in business class).

“This new route, more than an air connection, opens doors to new opportunities, strengthening our commitment to elevate Martinique to the top of must-visit Caribbean tourist destinations,” said Bénédicte di Géronimo, Martinique Tourism Commissioner. “Martinique has officially become more accessible to Canadians than ever with up to 6 weekly flights from Canada, among others. What an amazing journey.”

The six weekly flights include Air Canada’s existing route from Montreal to Martinique.

Canada is Martinique’s second-largest source market for visitors.
